Typed in lunar wave in the search engine, guess he deleted his comment. The wave is attributed to the equatorial ridge of the concentric glass sphere outside of the moon's.

These layers are also what create the cloaking effect of the moon, as Steve has said before

yes, possibly equatorial ridge(s) on glass sphere(s) is a good answer, as well as linear polarization.
